Many Christians who hear the word of God face an obstacle to receiving what they're believing God to manifest. Without question they believe God's word is true, and it is. I have seen thousands of people healed. I've also seen hundreds of people not healed. In order to receive what God wants to give, you have to make sure that you break through obstacles and persevere until you receive manifestation of healing power.
Get Into the Roof-Breaking Business
“ And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him. And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus. ” Luke 5:18-19
Jesus was in a house filled with dignitaries and religious leaders, teaching the Word of God; the place was so packed that men carrying their paraplegic friend on a stretcher couldn't get in the house. Many people would have quit when they realized that they couldn't get in, but these men wanted their friend healed, and their friend wanted to be healed. One of them came up with the idea of going to the roof, breaking up the ceiling, and dropping their friend in front of Jesus.
This was a bold move! Obviously, this man and his friends were demonstrating great faith, so much so that the paraplegic walked out of that place healed. But faith was not the only thing involved in this story. Scripture says that the power of the Lord was present to heal them (Luke 5:17). The roof was the only thing standing between that man and his friends' faith and the healing power of God.
Some of you have faith; you believe that Jesus is the Son of God. You believe that Jesus is a healer. You make some steps in that direction, but there's something between the manifestation of that power for you and what you believe. To receive your manifestation of healing power, you need to get into the roof-breaking business! You need to identify the obstacle keeping you from experiencing your breakthrough, and then you need to do anything you need to do to destroy that.
And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse, When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague. ” Mark 5:25-29
Sickness and disease can affect more than your body; it can affect your family, your finances, and your mental, emotional, and psychological outlook. Sickness is a curse, and it's of the devil. This woman had tried everything, and instead of receiving healing, she had only become worse. But as soon as she heard about Jesus, she knew that He was the answer to her disease!
Scripture says that people were thronging Jesus, which means that everyone was seeking to touch him. A healthy person would have had trouble getting through that crowd of people, but this woman no doubt was very weak, having lost blood continually for twelve years. In addition, this woman was ceremonially unclean. She persevered, however. She heard the Word, believed what she heard, and then acted on it. There was an obstacle between her and that manifestation of healing power, but she was determined to receive breakthrough. As a result of her perseverance, her faith made her whole.
Lack of knowledge is one of the biggest obstacles to people receiving a manifestation of their healing—not necessarily lack of knowledge of the fact that Jesus paid the price so they can receive healing but lack of knowledge of the obstacle keeping their faith from connecting with the power and bringing forth the manifestation (see Hosea 4:6).
I've ministered to many people when the power of God came on them—I knew it, and they knew it. Yet, they did not have the physical manifestation. I've also ministered to many people who received their healing at that moment, but their lack of knowledge about how to keep their healing prevented them from having a long-term result.
Believe and Receiving
God's healing power operates like electricity. I've seen the results of electricity, even if I can't explain how it works. I have felt the results of electricity when I didn't want to. Even though electricity was here all along, nobody received any benefit from it until somebody figured out how it worked and then somebody tapped in to what was available.
Healing operates the same way. God's healing power is available. It is in the earth for every believer. However, just because it is available doesn't mean that everyone can access it. You need to know how to receive the power of God for every situation you face. You need to do everything you need to do in order to break through to the yoke breaking power of Jesus. You need to do everything you need to do to connect your faith to the virtue in the Son of God!
