Facing Pressure with The Help of the Holy Spirit

If you live in the world, it's a given that you will face pressure—Jesus says that you will face tribulation (see John 16:33). What recourse do you have if you feel unable to face pressure? What recourse do you have when you're disappointed in your inability to persevere?

Pray in the Holy Spirit

“ Likewise the Spirit also helpeth [assists us in] our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. ” Romans 8:26

The word infirmities refers to your weaknesses, inabilities, and lack of strength to get done what needs to be done. You are not alone! The Holy Spirit doesn't pray apart from you. When you pray and yield to the Holy Spirit and He is able to pray through you with other tongues, or in articulate speech, as the Greek says, then you know you have the help of the Spirit.

You and the Holy Spirit take hold together against your weaknesses. You then get out of the natural realm and over into the supernatural realm. This is one reason why speaking in tongues is so important. When you do, you build yourself up spiritually; you make yourself stronger (see 1 Corinthians 14:2). Satan can't use the supernatural realm to apply the pressure, but you can use the supernatural realm to

“ And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. ” v. 27

The Holy Ghost is connected to make sure that there is always prayer going for you. God gets to move in the earth because somebody asked Him.

Trust That All Things Work For Your Benefit

“ And we know [see] that all things work [cooperate] together for good [benefit] to them that love God, to them who are the called [invited] according to his purpose [intention]. ” v. 28

When you get in the supernatural realm and pray, you cause things to begin to work for your benefit. When you know God loves you, and when you pray the perfect will of God, your situation will have to conform to God's will. Instead of satan being able to knock you out, he will end up helping you.

With prayer, all things cooperate together for your benefit and well being. You have been invited by God to fulfill His purposes, and His intention is for you to be part of His family.

“ For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. ” v. 29

God decided from the beginning that He was going to make you look like, act like, and have the results of Jesus.

“ Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. ” v. 30

That means that as far as the Lord is concerned, you are worthy of the blessing. You may say, "I don't feel worthy," but how you feel has nothing to do with it. Through Jesus, you are worthy of God's blessing. You don't have to justify yourself to other people; God has justified you and determined that the very glory and anointing of God should help you!

Know That God is For You

“ What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? ” v. 31

What do you say in the middle of pressure? What do you say in the middle of weakness, inability, and lack of strength? Paul knows that what you say determines what you have. What you say aligns your mind and your body. What you say under pressure will determine the direction you go.

God is for you. He said, "Come pray to me. I have made an open door for you. I love you and I know that you love me.  I know there are going to be some rough spots for you down here, but what are you going to say, because your word will either release me to work with you or release demon spirits to work against you."

What does Paul say you are to say?

“ He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? ” v. 32

If you are feeling some pressure, know that the price has already been paid for you. If you need a manifestation of healing, if you need favor with an employer, if you need manifestation of money—whatever you need—God can freely give you! All you have to do is accept and receive it.

Know That Jesus Makes Intercession For You

“ Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. ” vv. 33-34

In other words, who has the right to condemn you? They are not your judge; God is.

The Holy Ghost within you makes intercession for you, but Jesus is seated at the right hand of God right now. He is going before the Father for you while you are dealing with this pressure. You may feel alone, but you are not on your own. Jesus is saying, "Father help my brother. Father, help my sister."

“ Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us ” vv. 35-37

In all this pressure, in all this persecution, in all this danger, in all these problems, in all this disappointment, you are more than a conqueror! You may have some pressure, but you need to understand that God is bigger than that pressure. And God loves you more than you love yourself. I don't care what you're facing—whether it is physical or financial, whether other people have failed you or you have failed yourself—you can be an overcomer. You must believe in the love that God has for you.

You can't keep talking about the pressure. You can't keep talking about the disappointment. You have to say what Paul said, "I am justified, and everything will be all right." That attitude will help you handle pressure with skill.
