Trending Generation!

Trending Generation!
Paul said in Romans 15:4 “For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.” Every answer and solution can be found in the word. As youth minister’s we divide and administer the practical side and the spiritual side of life applications in a way that our teenagers can run with it and get immediate assistance. As a result, our teens see that God’s Word and plans work better than their own. This creates a thirst for more of God to be incorporated in their everyday lives giving God room to use them in huge and extreme ways. We’ve seen through our history that God loves using young people to implement dynamic works. As such, there is a responsibility God has given to some to cultivate and develop this thirst for Him in a trending generation that live a lifestyle mirroring His love and grace. God’s Word reveals record of multiple accounts when He used a teenager to change the direction of an economy, a culture and better yet... a generation.
Joseph, the son of Jacob, became overseer in the house of the Captain of the Guard in Egypt, the most economically wealthy nation in the world at that time, when he was just 17 because his heart belonged to God. This put him in place for God to use him in a mighty way in restoring God’s people to a state of sufficiency. David slayed a lion, a bear and a giant all in his youth to later become the King that turned a nation back to the thrown of God. Mary, the mother of Jesus, was a teenager when entrusted with a gift that would change the face of the World forever. She was selected as the individual who would birth the Son of God into the earth to save us all and restore mankind’s personal relationship with its father God. The role God has used teenagers to play in his plans throughout generations has greatly impacted the direction of society. In thus, it is of the upmost importance that we stay aware of what God has meant for good, Satan will twist for evil.
Today, most would say that we are seeing the most Godless generation of all time this side of Jesus Christ. Prostitution, substance abuse, alcoholism, homosexuality, homicide, suicide, abortions, fatherless teens and other products of broken homes are at an all time high amongst the world’s teenage populous but thank God we were called for such a time as this! As faith leaders targeting today’s teenager, we are on assignment to reveal to this generation, that no matter their background, family status, education, past or present, God has a future planned for them. Just as Paul poured into, at the time, youthful Timothy, so are we to pour into this generation of Joseph and David’s and Mary’s that God will use in a huge way to change the direction of this generation. How will they know if there isn’t anyone to teach them?

Winston Churchill put it this way, “The farther backward you can look, the farther forward you are likely to see.” No insight goes farther back for a believer than the Word of God! Which means there is no future, far enough, its wisdom cannot reveal including that of eternal life. Knowing Gods word and what He has done to save mankind in the past during times of great distress and attack will open our eyes to the future He has in store. What we do as Youth Pastor’s and Ministers will have the greatest impact on this monumental shift God has planned for the lives of the modern day teenager. It is so important that we press toward the mark and set the standard for our teens. Not compromising what it means to be totally consecrated for His use.  The Word tells us in Hebrews 13:7Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith.” Nothing becomes trendy, popular and blows up big until the teenager supports it and models himself or herself after it. See the scripture through the eyes of those you minister to. The 30 minutes we spend ministering during Sunday and midweek services matter and have tremendous impact on the lives of your teens. However, so does the other 167 hours of your week. Let your social media avenues show the lifestyle God has called you to minister and create a trending generation, one that will shake the foundations of the world, changing the course of their future towards God.
